First Gear is seeking an experienced CNC Gear Shaper / CNC Gear Hob Set-Up Technician for 2nd shift.
Candidate should have a minimum of five years gear set-up and operation experience on modern CNC gear cutting machines such as Lorenz, Mitsubishi, and Koepfer. Candidate must be knowledgeable in basic to complex gear shaper and gear hobbing set-up operations including both bore and shaft type components. Candidate must be knowledgeable in gear inspection interpretation and able to perform all gear inspection requirements including documenting and maintaining quality records.
Candidate will be responsible for complete machine set-up as well as running production parts while monitoring and performing quality inspection functions utilizing CNC analytical gear inspection equipment in addition to a wide variety of measuring equipment such as double flank roll testers, micrometers, gages, etc.
The preferred candidate will additionally have excellent knowledge of gear cutting feeds and speeds based on various material and hardness requirements, effects of tool wear, gear tooling and work holding fixtures and capable of designing work holding tooling as required.
